Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray resulted in harm at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.

A toddler was among those injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – caused disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
