The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by Critical Role, revealed an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that something was missing in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song created by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the official score of the same name, the second one released by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the hype and energy that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. This track that excites you before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have some changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its opening appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
