Supporters Demand Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a fence and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was due to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while some called for digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had gathered in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical production Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, earning several for best costume and set decoration.
