Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
The Gunners' ten-match winning run was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.
In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Football and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was still Forest manager.
So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.
A family member told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much success on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.
Fulham have got lots of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not do that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home form, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
