Six Individuals Detained Following €12 Million Robbery on Gold Refining Lab in France

A group of six individuals carrying high-powered firearms detonated charges to breach the security of a gold refining laboratory located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during what is being called the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The daring raid took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth €12 million (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for evaluation, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, thought to be experienced criminals, were taken into custody shortly after the incident in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A woman involved who participated in the heist was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six people who utilized explosives in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” the French interior minister declared on social media, lauding police for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The robbery occurred as law enforcement in France on Thursday arrested five more suspects, among them a key figure, in connection with the bold Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been pursuing four thieves who employed a truck with a hydraulic lift and cutting equipment to access a gallery on the first floor at the museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently broke into the Natural History Museum in Paris, stealing gold samples estimated at exceeding $1M. A woman from China, aged 24 was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in relation to the burglary, officials confirmed.

This series of robberies has generated apprehension in the nation regarding inadequate security measures at museums and other institutions holding high-value objects.
