The Miami Heat put up eighty-six opening half scores against the Grizzlies

The Heat claimed a decisive 146 to 114 victory over the Grizzlies in their first NBA match since guard Rozier was arrested for suspected illegal sports betting.

Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested in connection with a broad federal investigation into sports betting. Both men contest the claims.

Portland also won their initial match after the detentions, with Brazil-born Splitter taking over as interim coach in Billups' absence and leading the team to a convincing 139 to 119 win over the Warriors.

"We all had great experiences with Billups and his coaching style," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his family but our focus is on the game."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the first time, league head Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

The commissioner also said an league probe into the player's actions in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent regarding it. Although there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office can't do.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. And, of course, what they announced yesterday was an charge.

"Moreover two and a half years later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."

Elsewhere, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic scored more than 40 scores for the second game straight to start the season.

Following racking up forty-three points in a first loss to the Warriors, the Slovenian put up 49 scores - to go with 11 rebounds and eight assists - as the Los Angeles defeated the Timberwolves 128-110.

From Greece forward Antetokounmpo additionally had a strong performance with 31 points, 20 boards and seven assists in the Bucks' 122 to 116 victory at the Toronto Raptors.

Houston Rockets were defeated 115 to 111 by the Detroit Pistons even with 37 scores from Kevin Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had 29 points, eleven rebounds and nine blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' extra-time victory against the New Orleans.
