Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, now holds roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League last season, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told the podcast host: “I said I won't manage a different club on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on what circumstances would need to occur to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. With many victories so there was often a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the suggestion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and its impact for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision with his brother recently.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
