Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
